Vista experiences
Saturday, September 8, 2007, 15:10
Today I had my first experience with Windows Vista to set up and protect wireless networking. In less than 30 minutes of use the mouse locked up completely and I had to reboot. The only useful thing I've seen is the services are moved to the task manager. For the rest it's mainly bloat which requires too much computer power just to run. Because of this I'd like to add a new meaning to the word Vista. I think it actually stands for:

Very
Instable,
Seek
Technical
Assitance.

Also the 'WOW' in the slogan Microsoft used to launch Vista to the world "The 'WOW' starts now." has a whole different meaning... It stands for:

Want
Older
Windows

because of the bloat it requires and the buggy rewrites to cloak the actual base of the Vista kernel. It was told the kernel was rewritten from scratch, but in fact it's based on the Windows 2003 Server kernel.

I've found out one of the new features in ROMLOAD was disabled by accident. I've released an IPS patch to re-enable the feature.

ELGSYNC - KV2 Stage filename Synchronization Tool
Tuesday, February 27, 2007, 09:57
King's Valley 2 stage filenames can be versatile. They can have spaces in the filename without being long filenames recent operating systems use. In Windows such filenames are turned into long filenames and the short variant will contain ~ followed by a value, depending on the number of equal long filenames. When giving a stage a name it's also stored internally. When the name given to the actual file differs from the name stored in the file, it can't be found after a continue.

With ELGSYNC the filename of the file can be renamed back to the filename stored within the file, or the internal name be changed according to the file name. This will allow the game to find the stage after a continue.

The tool can be downloaded from my Home Page.

Pointless Platform is a TNI entry for MSXdev'06. Inspired by bobamu's Pointless Drive, which was an entry for the 1st MSX-BASIC Game Contest organized by Karoshi Corp. and judged by me.
